Parveen Babi (4 April 1949 – 20 January 2005) was an Indian film actress, model, and an interior designer. She is most remembered for her appearances in popular commercial films and playing mostly glamorous roles alongside top heroes of the 1970s and early 1980s.
Regarded as one of the most glamorous actresses in the history of Hindi Cinema, Parveen Babi was one of the highest paid actresses of her time.
Babi appeared in more than 50 Hindi films with a variety of genres. Parveen Babi made her debut in 1973 with the film Charitra and soon garnered reputation as a successful actress along with her contemporary Zeenat Aman. Parveen Babi was the first Indian to have appeared on the cover of Time magazine which was a rare feat in those days. She appeared with actor Amitabh Bachchan in a total of twelve films that had performed well at box office.
After her last film Iraada, Parveen Babi left the film industry and took up American nationality. Though she didnt marry, she had relationships with several actors such as Kabir Bedi, Amitabh Bachchan, Danny Denzongpa and Mahesh Bhatt. She was diagnosed with diabetes and died of multiple organ failure on 20 January 2005.
